Greetings from Stockholm, Sweden.
Our apologies for not writing sooner but it’s been a bit difficult between the travel and randomness of wi-fi. Thursday night we left Tilburg in the Netherlands for a 21-hour bus drive that got us here last night. Thank God we all get along!
Tonight is show 7 of the Saxon tour. This is old school metal at it’s best. We are playing to a different crowd than we usually play to and it’s pretty awesome!.
Don't know if the large majority of hard rock/heavy metal fans in the US are aware of how revered Saxon are in Europe and how important their role was in the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal).
In the late 70’s and early 80’s, Saxon was right along side Judas Priest and Iron Maiden in redefining heavy metal for American audiences. It’s obvious that the audiences have great respect for them.
We’ve decided to change the set-list every night and it’s been pretty killer. Being that we have the 2nd EP out (United World Rebellion Chapter 2-Rise of the Damnation Army)(total shameless plug!!), we’re able to jam on some of the new songs and see how they work with the rest of the set. Thankfully the new songs like “Give It The Gun” and “We Are The Damned” really fit seamlessly with the older songs.
Sometimes you just don’t know how it will work out but the audiences have been responding positively to the new stuff. It’s inspiring to say the least.
We’ll catch up with you all again sooner than later.
As always, thanks for the support!
